Essential Packing Tips

Moving can be both stressful and frustrating, but it can be made a little easier with proper planning and the right supplies. Let us help! Use the tips below to ensure an easier, more stress-free move:

Loading the Unit

1. Pack old towels, blankets, etc. be- tween fragile contents to minimize shifting inside your UNIT.
2. Stack heavier items on the bottom of the container, lighter boxes on top
3. Try to evenly distribute the weight within your UNIT, so that it does not become unbalanced.
4. Remember not to overload your UNIT. (The specific weight limit of your container is listed in your contract.) Exceeding the weight limit could cause shifting and damage to your contents, and the container.
5. Notify UNITS Mobile Storage at least five days in advance to schedule a move.

Packing Suggestions

1. Label your boxes with list of contents, which room it should go in, and whether or not it is fragile.
2. Keep items from each room together. Sorting of contents when you pack will save time and hassle later.
3. Reinforce each box with generous amounts of packing tape.
4. Cushion the contents generously with bubble wrap, paper or tissue. Remem- ber to wrap breakable items separately.
5. Pack heavier items in their own box. Do not overfill the boxes. The top should close easily without bulging.
6. Never pack flammable items, or items that could cause damage to the unit. Some examples are paint, thinners, bleach, and gasoline.

1. Boxes (standard & wardrobe)
2. Bubble wrap
3. Newspaper or tissue
4. Packing tape
5. Scissors
6. Marking pen
